Self-propelled barges may be used as such when traveling downstream or upstream in placid waters; they are operated as an unpowered Barge, with the assistance of a tugboat, when traveling upstream in faster waters. Canal barges are usually made for the particular canal in which they will operate.Self-propelled barges are useful for inland waterways transport in placid waters. They can also be used with a tug where needed and are useful for lighterage, ferrying, and transport of cargo and construction materials. What is the specifications of our propelled barge
A. General
High accuracy and fully welded, sealed, painted construction can be used for marine engineering of submerged and floating lines in pontoon or dock area or working platform.
B. Construction
The construction is to be built according to the drawing with rules of good workmanship and to be built the longitudinal frame system.
All penetrations of longitudinal through transverse bulkhead are closed with slot plate or stiffeners are interrupted at bulkhead and continuity is realized with brackets, to ensure to avoid any abrupt changes in strength structures.
Subdivided into some watertight compartments, and tanks are pressure tested after completion of all welding but before painting, testing pressure normally 2.35 mwg or 0.2 Bar.
C. Materials
All fabricated steelwork used in the construction of the pontoon will be to manufacturing standard of UniSite or other classification society.
All steel used to be blasted and shop primed both sides.
All materials proposed will be selected to comply with the latest Health and Safety Rules.
Paint systems for hull protection will be of the highest quality (Hempel, Inter, Sigma, Jotun)
D. Welding
All welding will be performed in accordance with drawing and order and UniSite experience and all welding will be continuous.
E. Workmanship
The workmanship on the hull and fittings throughout have good marine practice. Care are taken to ensure fair lines, smooth surfaces and neat welding. All materials and equipment installed in, or delivered with the pontoon will be new and of good marine quality.
